National Archaeological Museum of Venice

Collections

Each object is a journey

The National Archaeological Museum of Venice is the result of the aggregation of multiple collections over time, evidence of the Venetian taste for antiquity. For centuries Venice was a thriving antique market that enriched antique collectors with artworks not only coming from the Venetian hinterland but also from Rome and the Eastern Mediterranean countries. Greece, Egypt and Middle East: our artefacts tell us about journeys and show vividly a world of relations (stories of people and trades) that always permeated Mediterranean Sea.
